Shoujo anime are full of clichés. Most shoujo overuse certain things which ends up making them all very similar. I personally hate most shoujo cliché, as it seems like I’m re-watching the anime over and over and it makes them so predictable.

1 The female rival

There’s always that one character who’s had a crush on the MC’s love interest. Sometimes there are several. I hate this cliché so much. I know the rival will never get a chance, or they will but the relationship will end.

3 The interrupted kiss

I know it’s to create tension, but it doesn’t work. It’s overused. No one falls for this anymore (unless they’re new to shoujo). Just let them kiss already, damn it.

4 The main female character is hated

So many anime involve everyone hating the main character. Sukitte Ii Na Yo, Kimi Ni Todoke, Kyou, Koi Wo Hajimemasu to name a few. It’s stupid. Just let her have friends and stop torturing her. It’s not good character development when she eventually makes friends. It’s boring.

5 The main male character is loved by everyone

Kimi Ni Todoke, Sukitte Ii Na Yo, Kyou, Koi Wo Hajimemasu, Ouran High School Host Club. I can name more but I’d be here forever. Stop. Stop. Stop. Have the main male character be ordinary for once. Be unique and create unique characters.
