I recently bought this game, and was quite excited for it. I had mixed thoughts on the game before I played it, and I still have mixed thoughts now. While I haven’t completed it myself, I have watched my boyfriend complete it. One thing I noticed is that it doesn’t last long, he completed the story in one day – and he would go back to replay missions to get an S rank (which would take several attempts towards the end of the game).

Is it worth £55? Not really. I’d pay around £30, maybe £40 since the graphics do look very nice. The game itself is quite limiting too, another reason why I don’t think it’s worth the amount I spent. There’s only story and online – both of which can get very boring after a while. Hopefully they’ll add DLC in the future to expand on the game.

The actual gameplay itself isn’t too bad, but I do find that the screen can get a little crowded with the missions, controls, character dialogue, map, and current titan that is being attacked. It’s so much to take in at once, which means that it’s possible to miss key information. Especially things like the Female Titan getting back up, which is a small bit of dialogue at the bottom, which isn’t noticeable at all and my boyfriend missed it completely due to being in a fight with another titan. This game is definitely best played with someone watching, as they can point out any key information that may be missed.

Other than that, the controls are very easy to learn even though they can be a little bit fiddly at times. The game is also a little too specific at times with timing, speed and where the player is. There were times when I was certain that I timed everything perfectly for it to fail, causing me to just get frustrated. Maybe I aimed a little too high, or I wasn’t going fast enough.

It is very fun to play, so I can’t complain about that. I also like being able to run around after missions and talk to characters. It gives me the opportunity to explore a little bit, even if the area is slightly limiting.

I do like that they’ve kept to the storyline faithfully, which has given me a recap of the events that took place in the anime – saving me the hassle of re-watching the series before the second airs. It also shows a little bit of what’s going to happen in the second season too.

Overall, I’d give the game a 7/10. It’s not the worst game I’ve played, but it’s not the best. It is, however, still very good.
