After four years, the second season for Attack on Titan was finally released. I’m so glad it wasn’t an April Fools prank. It would have been cruel if it was, considering how long we’ve had to wait.

There is a negative though, season 2 will only have 12 episodes, which is half of what season 1 got. I’m very disappointed. 12 episodes either means everything will be crammed in or the story won’t progress at all. I don’t know why they chose 12 episodes, maybe they were worried that not many fans would return to watch the new season or it might be enough time to fit the content they want in. I dislike it though. Especially if I have to wait another four years for season 3 (if they decide to make a season 3). If I only have to wait six months for the next season, I won’t be too upset about the small number of episodes, but I have a feeling this is extremely unlikely.

I could rant about the small season all day if I could, but anyway let’s move on to the actual episode.

The first episode didn’t disappoint me. It was good, as I expected. It picked up right from where the first season ended, and luckily I didn’t forget anything that had happened. Not a lot happened, but the episode wasn’t boring. I can sort of guess where this season is headed, and I’m very excited to see what happens next.

The episode concluded nicely as well, it left me wanting to watch the next episode so I’m excited for when episode 2 airs.

Most characters got some screen time, which I loved.

The opening was good, I don’t like it as much as the first opening, but I don’t hate it.

The animation was as good as the first season; I didn’t notice a difference. It looked very nice, which is what I expected. I’m hoping this stays consistent throughout.

Overall, it was a very good start to the season. I highly recommend watching it if you haven’t already (assuming you’ve seen the first season). I loved the first episode and I’m sure you will too.
