This is my favourite cartoon. I remember when it was first aired and I fell in love with it instantly. I watched the majority of the series from beginning to end – as best as I could at the time, since I didn’t always watch TV. I also played the game covering the second series on PS2 (kind of shows how old the series is).

I decided to rewatch the whole series over a year ago, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I was worried I’d hate it and that it would be too childish for me to enjoy. This was all false, I still found the very many jokes hilarious and the storyline was still as entertaining as it was when I was younger.

I managed to watch all three seasons in a short amount of time, which surprised  me since I thought it would take me a lot longer to watch. I didn’t expect to enjoy watching it as much as I did, I even stayed up all night to watch it (I really like sleep, so to miss sleep because of a series means it’s really good).

The storyline itself is so good, which I didn’t expect due to it being a cartoon. I thought the story would be super predictable and basic, and not as complex as it is due to the target audience being children. I enjoyed the storyline as a child, and I enjoyed it as an adult, which really says a lot.

Another thing which makes it my favourite cartoon is that most – if not all – episodes are relevant to the storyline. I find that some cartoons lack an ongoing storyline and storylines span for an entire episode without it being continued (unless it continues into a second episode). It’s nice to enjoy a series that has a storyline that spans for three seasons.

I love the characters so much. They’re all so interesting to watch, and their personalities grow throughout the series. It’s nice watching them change as the story progresses.

Zuko is my favourite, especially since his character is so interesting and changes the most – in my opinion. He goes from despising the Avatar, to actually getting along with him. His anger towards Aang lessens as the series progresses, which is something that I don’t always see in cartoons.

The ending is so good too. I don’t hate anything about it. It was so exciting to watch, and I wasn’t left disappointed at all. To be honest, I love the end (and this series) so much that I can’t watch The Legend of Korra. Even though I’ve been told it’s very good, I can’t bring myself to watch it in case I don’t like it. I’m worried that it may change my thoughts on this series and I don’t want that to happen since I love it so much.

It doesn’t help that I’ve heard that Korra is annoying – which is something I find very off-putting about series.
