So Nintendo announced their latest console. This console will be released March 2017 and is a portable console that can be connected to a TV and used as a home console. Which is pretty awesome and cool, I’m hoping this is what makes Nintendo a little bit more successful, since their consoles haven’t been doing as well recently.

So what else do we know about the console?

It was code-named NX while it was in production, and right now there’s no exact release date. Hopefully Nintendo will announce an official release date soon.

The controller also looks like a dog, because of this I’m hoping the mascot for this console is a dog due to the resemblance. I also really like dogs, so it will make me like this console a little more.

The Legend of Zelda; Breath of the Wild will also be released on it (which is convincing me to consider buying it, I love The Legend of Zelda).

As to be expected, when this console is released we can expect the Wii U to begin to become scarce, new game titles will slowly stop being released and it will eventually die. Like most consoles that have a successor to take over.

(You can’t unsee it now, can you?)

So how does this console work? It switches between being a portable and home console (as stated somewhere above). The screen goes into the Switch dock to charge, and games are fed to a TV instead. There’s slots either side of the screen, where the controller slides into place, these are removed when the screen is placed into the dock and are then put onto the controller. The screen might also have a touch screen (it would be awesome if it did) and it might have a headphone jack on it.

The price for the console won’t be released until next year, so until then we won’t know how expensive it will be. I can guess that it will probably cost a bit. Since the Wii U did badly, I can only assume that it will cost a little more than that did.

A downside to this console, is that there will be no physical backwards compatibility. So you can’t grab your physical Wii U games and play them on it. This is something I don’t particularly like, since I like Nintendo for their consoles having backwards compatibility.

However, the Switch will support Amiibo.

That’s all I know at the moment, hopefully more news will be announced soon.

Will you be getting the Nintendo Switch? Leave a comment below!
