Anime is full of characters that are inspirational, whether they’re not going to let anything knock them down, or they have lots of courage. Here’s a list of characters that I think are the most inspirational.

1 Naruto Uzumaki – Naruto/Naruto Shippuden

Naruto lost his parents on the day he was born, so he grew up not having a family. The whole village hated him for something he couldn’t help. He wasn’t even aware of why they hated him until he learnt that he had the nine-tailed fox sealed up inside of him. The same beast that killed lots of people in the Hidden Leaf Village. Despite this, his dream was to become Hokage and have everyone accept him. He didn’t go down a path of hate and didn’t want to kill everyone for hating him. No matter what was thrown his way, he was determined to achieve his dream which makes him incredibly inspirational.

2 Ichigo Kurosaki – Bleach

Ichigo will do anything to protect those he loves, and he will go to great lengths to make sure they’re safe. He gave up being a normal human to protect his family. He even risked his powers to protect everyone.

3 Tohru Honda – Fruits Basket

She’s not as well-known as the previous characters on this list, but I look up to her. She lost her father when she was very young and then she loses her mother when she’s a teenager. She ends up living with her grandfather but is then homeless due to the house needing renovations. She’s determined to not be a bother to anyone, so she moved into a tent and supported herself while the renovations were being done. She then is asked to move in with Shigure and Yuki Sohma, who find her on Sohma land. Tohru goes through so much so she can try to figure out how to break the curse that plagues the Sohma family. She’s always smiling, no matter what is thrown her way, even after she lost her mother who she was incredibly close to. She smiles and tries her best to cheer everyone else up. She’s accepting of everyone and doesn’t judge anyone. She won’t hate anyone, even if they treat her badly.

4 Edward and Alphonse Elric – Fullmetal Alchemist

Edward and Alphonse both give up so much to try to bring their mother back, Ed loses an arm and a leg, and Al loses his whole body. They then try to find out more about the Philosophers Stone so they can get their old bodies back. They both go through so much and it never stops them. *Spoiler Alert* Ed gives up his Alchemy so Al can have his body back. These two are definitely inspirational.

5 Itachi Uchiha – Naruto/Naruto Shippuden

*Spoiler Alert* It’s very difficult to explain why Itachi is inspirational without ruining a lot of the series. Itachi gives up everything. He gave up the love his little brother had for him, and he left the village to prevent a war that his own family were about to start. He kills his own family and tortures his little brother. He joins a criminal gang as a spy and goes against his beliefs. All so he can protect the Leaf. He keeps up his act right until his final moments, and then dies in front of his little brother who he adores. He sacrifices so much. To be able to sacrifice so much is truly admirable, and I find it inspiring.

6 Lelouch – Code Geass

*Spoiler Alert* Another character whose reason for being inspirational is a massive spoiler for the series. He made everyone hate him, and acted evil, to then have his own best friend kill him. His best friend is then seen as the hero and he dies a villain, all to stop the war and terrorism that was affecting the whole world. He got rid of the divide between Britannians and the Japanese (11s). Everyone cheered when he died, except for his sister, not realising what he had done and what he had sacrificed. This is the very reason why I love Code Geass, and why it’s one of my favourite anime. Lelouch is such an inspirational and powerful character, it’s very hard to ignore that.

That concludes this list, is there anyone I forgot about? Leave a comment below!
