It’s very difficult to not hear about this film. Everyone is talking about it. It’s beaten Spirited Away and is now the highest grossing animated film in Japan (I think). So it must be good, right?

Yes it is. I watched this film expecting it to be good but then expecting it to be bad. Especially since I’ve seen some mainstream anime that was actually a lot worse than what I expected.

I loved every minute of it, even though a lot of it confused me. Like who was in who’s body etc. did get a bit confusing, but eventually it made sense.

I’d definitely recommend watching it, it’s worth watching. I understand now why it’s so popular, and it’s no surprise that it has done so well. Honestly, it’s a really, really good film.

The story for this is amazing, it wasn’t predictable (ish, the end was sort of predictable). It was really gripping, and I couldn’t tell what was going to happen next. I felt so many different emotions while watching this. The combination of time-travel and body-swapping was so unusual, and somehow it was made to work so well.

The story is told at a nice pace, it’s not too slow and it’s not too fast. It all concludes nicely too, and to be honest, I didn’t want the story to end. I loved everything about the story, and I loved all the emotions it made me experience while watching it.

The characters were all so loveable. Especially Mistuha and Taki. I am a little disappointed that Taki’s friends weren’t in it as much, it would have been cool to get to know them a little better.

I don’t know if I have a favourite, though if I had to pick I’d say Taki and Mitsuha. There’s no way I can choose out of the two of them. They’re both equally as great as each other.

The animation is beautiful. Everything looked so nice. It’s all so stunning. Even the art-style is really nice to look at.

It’s definitely one of the best anime films I’ve seen in a while. It’s definitely one of my favourites, along with The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Howl’s Moving Castle. I’ve only seen it once, and I’d definitely watch it again. I have pre-ordered the DVD which isn’t going to be released until later this year.
